Qualifying regions
The Shared Equity pilot has been designed for regions where people on modest incomes can’t buy their first homes because prices are too high. The lower quartile house prices in the regions chosen for the pilot are well above the New Zealand average house price of $255,000*.
The qualifying regions are:

Auckland: in the areas covered by the Auckland City Council, Franklin District Council, Manukau City Council, North Shore City Council, Papakura District Council, Rodney District Council and the Waitakere City Council.
Wellington: in areas covered by the Wellington City Council, Kapiti Coast District Council, Lower Hutt City Council, Porirua City Council and Upper Hutt City Council.
Nelson: in the suburbs of Aniseed Hill, Atawhai, Atmore, Bell Island, Best Island, Britannia, Broads, Bronte, Clifton, Enner Glynn, Glenduan, Grampians, Hope, Isel Park, Kirks, Langbein, Maitai, Maitlands, Nayland, Nelson Airport, Ngawhatu, Port Nelson, Ranzau, Richmond East, Richmond West, Saxton, Saxton Island, Tahuna Hills, Tahunanui, The Brook, The Wood, Toi Toi, Trafalgar.
Christchurch: in the areas covered by the Christchurch City Council, Selwyn District Council and Waimakariri District Council.
Queenstown: in the suburbs of Queenstown Hill, Frankton, Kelvin Heights, Queenstown Bay and Sunshine Bay.
